This new Ryan Adams & The Cardinals record is pretty all right and definitely getting better with each listen, but honestly over the last few years, only a handful of Ryan's tunes have excited me as much as the older stuff. Cardinology is out today via Lost Highway.

Paperplant "Bee Bee"
My friend Angelina Lucero aka Paperplant has recently posted some new material up on her myspace page, which you should definitely check out. Seriously this girl is really great and one day we plan to release some music together. Now, she may not be too happy that I am posting a fairly rough demo of this tune, which may or may not be called "Bee Bee," because she claims she is still trying to learn how to play the guitar, but honestly I think it fits perfectly with her soothing vocals. Again, make sure to head to her myspace to hear a few more tunes.

* Album reviews are composed only after a few listens. Yes, opinions may change over time, but most first impressions (un)fortunately seem to hold true. I wish I was creative enough to write a proper review, but I've failed miserably in the past. Here's the next best thing, I hope.

This record isn't too bad, especially if you like that 80's dream pop. I will say that it's definitely better than their current tour mates release from this year. Alpinisms is out now via Ghostly International.

Fleet Foxes at The Metro (10.12.08)
I attended tonight's sold out Fleet Foxes show at the Metro, initially without a ticket, but thankfully the box office had a block of five tickets left for sale beforehand. Now, I stated earlier in the year that I was bummed I missed these guys with Blitzen Trapper at Schubas, however I was able to catch them at Pitchfork Fest, which was great. Tonight though was even better. I suppose that's what touring for months on end does to a band. Even the in-between song banter has picked up from before, like tonight's "Corn for President," good stuff. Anyway, tonight was lovely, however, I do believe J. Tillman may have been under the weather because he seemed to not be as talkative as usual. Also, if you didn't notice, John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of Wilco/The Autumn Defense were in attendance and I believe I saw Alex and Victoria from Beach House too. Below is a picture of the mentioned "Pitchfork Plaque" and tonight's setlist. The new self-titled release, Fleet Foxes, is out now via Sub Pop.
Setlist
01. Sun Giant
02. Sun It Rises
03. Drops In The River
04. English House
05. White Winter Hymnal
06. Ragged Wood
