Yim Yames To Release A George Harrison Tribute EP

Yim Yames, or properly known as Jim James, is set to release a George Harrison tribute EP entitled, Tribute To, on 8/4 (digitally on 7/7) via ATO. Though new, this EP was actually recorded back in 2001 shortly after Harrison's death. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, an organization that provides shelter to farm animals that have been rescued from cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. According to Billboard, My Morning Jacket seem to be taking a much needed break, however, Jim is clearly keeping busy. Aside from the EP, he also mentions that a full-length solo album is in the works and a Monsters Of Folk tour is rumored for September. Check out the new tune, "Behind That Locked Door," below, along with a lovely acapella performance of the MMJ tune, "Wordless Chorus."

Album Review: Regina Spektor - Far

Regina Spektor - Far

01. The Calculation
02. Eet
03. Blue Lips
04. Folding Chair
05. Machine
06. Laughing With
07. Human Of The Year
08. Two Birds
09. Dance Anthem Of The 80's
10. Genius Next Door
11. Wallet
12. One More Time With Feeling
13. Man Of A Thousand Faces

Standout Tracks: Dance Anthem Of The 80's / Blue Lips / Eet

Slightly torn on this one, but think it may be a grower. Definitely don't think it's Regina's best work; however, there are some pretty decent tunes. "Dance Anthem Of The 80's" for example, may be a little on the corny side, but I think it's the best song. There are also a few sort of sweet ballads, like "Blue Lips" and "Laughing With." Far is out today via Sire.

* Album reviews are composed only after a few listens. Yes, opinions may change over time, but most first impressions (un)fortunately seem to hold true. I wish I was creative enough to write a proper review, but I've failed miserably in the past. Here's the next best thing, I hope.

Sigur Rós on The Interface

Sigur Rós had a session with Spinner's The Interface posted yesterday. Check it out here, however, I've posted a video of "Illgresi" below, along with a video interview. Also, a follow up to 2008's Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust, out via XL, is nearing completion and planned for an early 2010 release. According to the band's website, this record will be more melodic, but much less noisy and more "out there" than previous albums.
