If you have yet to hear Midlake, I highly suggest that you check them out. Their latest release, The Trials Of Van Occupanther, out via Bella Union, was #2 on my "favorite albums of 2006" list and their show, last Valentines Day at Schubas, was #1 on my "favorite live shows of 2007" list.
