She & Him "You Really Got A Hold On Me"
I read awhile ago that actress/musician Zooey Deschanel was putting out a record sometime in 2008 and failed to mention it on my albums coming out in 2008 list. While doing some research today, via The Leather Canary, The Leather Canary (part 2), The Playlist, Pitchfork, and KCRW, I found a lot of new information. It turns out that Zooey has teamed up with M. Ward and they are supposedly releasing an album called, Volume One, due out on 3/18, under the name She & Him, via Ward's home, Merge.
Now I don't know about you, but I first fell in love with Zooey and her voice in the movie Elf and then again in Winter Passing. She was also in Almost Famous, an indie flick that I need to check out The Go-Getter (where she meet M. Ward), and will play Janis Joplin in Gospel According To Janis, which is to be release in 2010. Along with many other projects, Zooey also had time to help out friend/ex-lover Jason Schwartzman with his current musical project Coconut Records by laying down some vocals on his 2007 release, Nighttiming. Man, what a busy girl. Anyway, I highly suggest that you check out these tunes and search the links posted above for some more downloads.
