Marissa Nadler at Schubas (11.17.09)

Marissa Nadler performed a wide variety of tunes tonight at Schubas. Accompanied by Carter Tanton, of the band Tulsa, on a few tunes, I was surprised that they only played two tunes off the new release, Little Hells, out via Kemado. I guess it doesn't matter too much because all of her tunes are hauntingly beautiful. Marissa, apologetic for the lack of stage banter, had confessed early on that she's terribly shy. Again, not a big deal to me, I was there for her lovely music. Wrapping up her tour with Alela Diane tomorrow at 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, Nadler will play a few more shows before beginning work on a new record.
